November sees the launch of the next phase of Ruddington’s Neighbourhood Plan process – as its team of hardworking volunteers prepare to gather feedback on ’emerging policies.’
Secretary Mark Pinks explains: “It seems like quite a while since the village-wide survey in June, but the Neighbourhood Plan team have been busy in the background preparing for the next stage of the project. This is a distillation of the views of over 900 people and their priorities for Ruddington, following the consultation.”
The village centre proved to be the most important subject for respondents – closely followed by housing and development issues. For example, over 60% felt that the centre of our village was an extremely important issue, with almost 90% feeling that a viable shopping area was a high priority. Over 80% felt that providing easy access to the shops and services from those new properties was either a medium or high priority.

After analysing all the results and combining the data with technical studies carried out by their planning partners, Urban Imprint, the team has produced a vision for Ruddington, a set of objectives, and a collection of policy aims and aspirations.
Launching this Friday 3rd November and running through to Saturday 15th December, the “Your Priorities, Your Policies” survey invites people to review the policy aims and aspirations, and feed back any changes that you think might be needed. The six week survey will be accompanied by an Open Day at St Peter’s Rooms on Saturday 10th November.
“Here our volunteers will be on hand with Urban Imprint to hear your views on the policy aims, and answer any questions you may have. Once the survey closes, the work of drafting the actual planning policies will begin, to be compiled into a full Neighbourhood Plan for consultation sometime next spring” says Mark.
Meantime, you’ll be able to access the new questionnaire from this Friday at ruddingtonnp.org.uk/survey2, or in paper form from St Peter’s Rooms. The policy document, which contains important background information, will also be available from St Peter’s Rooms or in the library.
